Naan and Curry is a great local chain of Indian / Pakistani restaurants in both San Francisco and Berkeley. The restaurants have great prices (most total checks under $10); super food; and a fun, casual atmosphere. Naan and Curry serve - no surprise - delicious lamb, chicken, vegetable, and seafood curries with a variety of plain and spiced naan breads. The restaurants serve no alcohol, but allow you to bring in your own beer and wine-- and even provide cork-screws! The tandoori grilled chicken is especially delicious - not too spicy, but with a delicious blend of spices and freshly grilled to-order chicken. For our Indian meal in San Francisco, we enjoyed the lamb curry "daal ghost" with lentils. The sauce was a delicious brown sauce with large pieces of lamb and plenty of well seasoned lentils. We tried both the plain and garlic naan breads which were freshly baked and delicious. The naan breads are great for dipping in the entree sauces. A delicious Indian food accompaniment was the vegetable biryani rice went well with the meal. It included a variety of fresh vegetables. We also tried the plain basamati zafran rice which was quite good. The Indian San Francisco restaurant includes chai tea free with all meals (self-serve) that was a wonderful hot drink to enjoy with the meal. The chicken palak was extremely spicy. While we enjoyed all of our dishes-- this item was a bit much for the uninitiated. Of course if you love spicy food - this is the perfect dish for you. Our total bill for four adults' meals was just $32, and the tips are discretionary since most items are entirely self service. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food. You get any water, utensils, plates, etc. on your own. We highly recommend the Indian and Pakistani food in San Francisco (and Berkeley) at Naan and Curry restaurants.
